Hello Football Life!
A few thoughts from the sun lounger in Mölle about the spring season 2026.
As you probably remember, after Caroline Seger's addition to the management team during the last five games of last season, we managed to save the contract.
There were a few nervous matches, but after the victory in the last round we could look forward to a new, exciting season in the OBOS Damallsvenskan.
The new and exciting thing about this season was that FC RosengÄrd, after many legal trips, finally received the go-ahead from the Swedish Football Association to conduct elite operations in a limited company together with the English investment company Crux. This allowed the club to begin a new and exciting journey with an organizational form and new opportunities.
Since the whole process dragged on, the transfer window was well underway and many player transfers had been completed.
Despite that, my feeling was that we entered the season with a squad of players who could play the football we in the management team wanted to stand for and offer our loyal supporters.
Our internal goal was to take one game at a time and focus on the next task at all times. My personal goal was to win five and collect 15 points before the summer break.
The game and the results in the friendly matches and the Swedish Cup gave us positive news. It strengthened my belief that we had the capacity to surprise all the experts who tipped RosengÄrd as a team in the lower half of the table.
The opening match away against Hammarby, who were tipped by most along with HĂ€cken as favorites to win the series, was a nightmare start. After just a quarter of an hour we were down 3-0 and there were calls for more goals. I looked at my bench neighbor Seger, and we both followed the clock more than the game, hoping that the half-time signal would come quickly so that we could make some tactical changes from the coaching bench.
The game in the second half evened out, and we managed to score a reducing goal. We were still happy with the final score of 3-1 when we flew back to Malmö after the match.
The opening match at Malmö IP against AIK ended in great disappointment. 1-1 all the way to the end - but a mistake on the edge of the box gave the visitors a 2-1 lead. A heavy loss despite a good effort.
Unfortunately, the match was similar to that during parts of the spring season, with good play and very good attacking play, but with easy goals and several odd-goal losses.
At the same time, we had our best performance in the home match against Malmö FF at IP, where we completely dominated the first half and should have had a lead of several goals. We created pressure, had the initiative and controlled the game for long periods.
Despite that, that match also ended in another odd-goal loss, which makes the feeling after the spring season extra heavy considering the performance we actually showed in several matches.
As the losses left us at the bottom of the table and the criticism became increasingly negative, I started to be honest with myself and think: aren't we really better than this? Am I, who follows the team every day, perhaps too emotionally involved, and not really wanting to see reality?
At the same time, I saw how hard everyone worked in training, and it made it clear that the will was there. It also felt like a lot was about self-confidence - that we needed to get a result to lean on in order for the team to really get going.
That result finally came in the away match against Eskilstuna, where we took the lead early on and set the tone for the match. Now we also got a reward for our work, and we were finally able to secure the first victory of the season with 3-0.
In the last match before the summer break we met DjurgÄrden at Malmö IP and we treated our loyal audience to some great football entertainment and a 4-1 win meant we climbed over the relegation zone and it was a great feeling to cycle home from Malmö IP on a beautiful summer day and even though the spring season didn't go as we had hoped, that win gave us some air for the upcoming matches when the season starts again in early August when we go to Göingeskogarna to face Vittsjö.
A summer transfer window is opening, which means that there will be many changes in the teams' squads. Players will leave, new ones will be signed and the team will look a little different when the autumn starts.
I can recommend that you keep an extra eye on FC RosengÄrd's new website, and on our social channels, where news about both incoming and outgoing players will surely appear during the summer.
We look forward to seeing you again at Malmö IP after a well-deserved summer break â filled with barbecues, swimming and maybe the occasional GT.
When the season starts again in August, new matches await, where we start with two away matches against Vittsjö and VÀxjö.
We also hope to be able to take up the fight with Malmö FF for who is the city's best women's team in the future. With a stronger autumn, new elements in the squad and continued hard work, it is our goal to take RosengÄrd back to the top of Swedish women's football.
