FC RosengÄrd Elitfotboll AB has appointed Fran Alonso as the new head coach for the women's team. The Spanish coach will take office with immediate effect and will be an important part of the club's continued long-term investment.

The work has always had a long-term perspective, where every decision should contribute to step-by-step development of both the team and the organization around it. Now the club is taking the next step by appointing Fran Alonso as the new head coach.

International experience
Fran Alonso comes to FC RosengÄrd with a solid international coaching background from both women's and men's football.
Alonso was head coach of Celtic FC Women between 2020 and 2024. Under his leadership, Celtic established themselves at the top of Scottish football, won several titles and qualified for play in the UEFA Women's Champions League.
Before Alonso made the step over to women's football, he worked in English elite football. At Southampton, he worked as a technical coach under Mauricio Pochettino and later he was part of Ronald Koeman's management staff at Everton.
In Fran Alonso, FC RosengÄrd thus gets a head coach with experience from different football cultures and from developing both teams and individual players in environments with high ambitions.
- Fran has a coaching background that few in women's football can match. Before making the step up to women's football, he worked in elite football on the men's side, where he was a technical coach under Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton and assistant coach to Ronald Koeman at Everton. That foundation â built on tactical precision, high demands and a strong ambition to constantly develop â has characterized everything that has followed. He comes to RosengĂ„rd with a broad, international perspective on women's football and a coaching style that is ambitious, structured and built around the players he works with, says Bex Smith.
The next step for FC RosengÄrd
Fran Alonso takes up the role with immediate effect and replaces Joel Kjetselberg, who returned to the club ahead of the season on a one-year contract.
Kjetselberg has played an important role during the first phase of the club's long-term work, including by establishing new working methods and creating a stable foundation in the player group.
With Alonso in place, FC RosengĂ„rd is now beginning the next phase â with a continued focus on building a business that can compete for titles on both a national and international level in the long term.
