Molly Johansson sustained a knee injury during yesterday's training session. It has now been confirmed to be a cruciate ligament injury.

Molly now faces a lengthy period away from football.

– I already miss playing football, it’s what I love most. I’ve never had an injury like this before, so it’s hard to know exactly how to handle everything. But - I’m getting all the help I need from the club, which is a huge relief. There are a lot of emotions right now, but I’ve also decided to come back stronger in every way, says Molly Johansson.

An important part of the road to recovery will be staying involved with the team.

– I’ll keep coming to Malmö IP and being part of the team. Of course, I wish I could be out there helping the team on the field, but I also know they’ll manage without me, says Molly.

For Head of Football Caroline Seger, a key task now is supporting Molly through the period ahead.

– My role as Head of Football is primarily about being a source of support and a sounding board for the club's players and staff. Suffering an injury is the last thing a player wants; it’s a situation where you need a different kind of support than usual. Molly has been important to us on the pitch, and now she’ll play an important role from the sidelines instead, says Caroline Seger.

Molly will eventually undergo surgery followed by rehabilitation. The club’s focus is now on providing her with the best possible conditions throughout her rehabilitation and her journey back to the pitch.
